I stayed at this hotel last week and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I am a government employee and was traveling on state business and this hotel honors the government GSA rate for lodging per diem. This is a certified green hotel that meets government sustainability initiatives. Upon arrival, I was greeted immediately. The front desk employee was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I ran into one minor issue at check-in for which the hotel was NOT to blame. My employer uses a virtual card program for lodging payments (Conferma). At check-in, the front desk could not locate the virtual card number that had been previously sent to the hotel. Through the Conferma app, I was able to determine the payment had deployed, but unfortunately, it was sent to an inoperable fax number that Conferma had listed for the hotel. Unfortunately, this is a common issue with virtual cards which are still a relatively new concept to the hospitality industry. Luckily, the front desk and I worked together to resolve this issue fairly quickly—I just redeployed the payment through the Conferma app and sent it directly to the front desk’s email address where staff were able to easily retrieve it. However, to streamline the check-in process for future business travelers who must use virtual cards, I recommend that hotel management work directly with the Statewide Travel Program and Conferma to update its contact information to ensure virtual payment information is sent to the proper location and front desk personnel have immediate access to it when travelers are checking in. My room was clean, spacious, and incredibly comfortable. As this is a new hotel, it appears the kinks are still being worked out in some of the rooms, and I did experience a slight hiccup in the bathroom. When I attempted to blow dry my hair in the morning, I discovered that the none of the outlets in the bathroom worked, so I had to use an outlet by the nightstand. While this was not a huge deal for me, it is noteworthy that I stayed in an King accessible room, so I would recommend that the hotel resolve this issue promptly to avoid inconvenience and access issues to guests with mobility challenges. Also, for guests in need of an accessible room, be advised that not all accessible rooms are equipped with roll-in showers resembling the pictures on the website, so be sure to specifically request this if you need it. The room I stayed in had a regular tub/shower combo with a shower seat in the middle of the tub that was not adjustable or removable, nor did it slide. I have never seen this bizarre arrangement in an accessible room. The fitness center was terrific, the indoor pool was lovely (no hot tub), and the breakfast was tasty with an array of choices. Sadly, there were several unhoused individuals hanging out in the parking lot beside the hotel, and while I was eating breakfast, I witnessed one of them wander into the hotel, retrieve breakfast items, and leave. I foresee this becoming a problematic issue for the hotel if they do not implement immediate solutions to address it. The hotel offers complimentary coffee and tea around the clock in the lobby. There is also a Starbucks right outside the front door of the hotel, a Dutch Bros. around the corner, as well as a Panda Express and a few other quick service restaurants in front of the hotel. There is drug store just down the street for snacks or any items you may have forgotten at home . Every member of the staff I interacted with was friendly and eager to help with anything I needed. Overall, this hotel met my needs, and is hands down the best lodging option in Oroville.
