Stayed at the apartments in May. Booked this via Formentera Hotel Guides. Was unsure whether it was going to be okay, as I couldnt find any independent write up's. But, my concerns were unfounded. On the day of my departture I received a phone call from Michel the Apartments owner/host to advise me that my apartment was ready. Unfortunately, due to the Volcanic ash cloud my flight was delayed resulting in missing the last ferry to the island. Before me flight took off I text Michel to advise him that I would not be arrivig that night, who kindly text me back with a suggested hotel near the harbour in Ibiza. When I got to the Island the next morning, I took at taxi to the apartment which is located in the beautiful fishing village of 'Es Calo de Sant Agusti'. The apartments are located down the lane from Hotel Entre Pinos and has unrivalled sea views of any other property in Es Calo. Michel is very friendly and provides some invaluable advice on the local area. The place was spotless and well maintained. The room was well appointed with small kitchenette, small bathroom and nice balcony with amazing sea views. The village of Es Calo is small but does have all the facilities that you need. There are three supermarkets of which there is one larger one. Whilst not massive it does have virtually everything you require. The village also has a pharmacy and an ATM. Cafe Rafalet is situated on the Harbour/fishing inlet and is a lovely spot to relax on an evening watching sun go down whilst have some food and drink. Another restaurant is Acapulco which is mexican/pizzeria as is very nice somehwat bohemian. I would without a doubt recommend Apartmentos Gaviota to anyone who enjoys the quiet lifestyle and enjoys exploring and walking! The beach nearby is sandy, the sea is rocky but very nice. There is also a small beach bar 'Amore'. The beach is very relaxed with a small amount of naturists to be found. But this is not an issue - so try it!

Formentera ist wie eine zweite Heimat vorallem im Spähten Herbst wenn der grösste Reiseansturm vorbei ist die Hälfte der Inlokale bereits geschlossen haben und die See rauer wird dann ist Formentera wieder Formenttera.

Stayed here in mid July the weather was excellent, there were no disappointments with the studio it was exactly as described. Stayed here in mid July the weather was excellent, there were no disappointments with the studio it was exactly as described. Clean, comfortable, twin beds, towels and sheets changed more often than we expected. Kitchenettewise - basic needs unless you are into cooking four course dinners - suited us fine as we ate out every night. If (probably) we go again I will take a travel kettle as somehow water boiled in a saucepan does not produce a "proper" cup of tea! We had a car from Ibiza airport for the entire stay (it was very difficult to find a car hire firm prepared to let you take a vehicle on the ferry) because our flights were into Ibiza first thing in the morning and out in the early hours and we did not fancy lugging cases around for a whole day after we left Gaviota. Another reason for the car was that initial research suggested that we would snorkle on the apartment side and sunbathe on the other side of the thin strip of land between Es Calo and Playa Migjorn. In the event we stayed pretty much on our side as the cove right outside Gaviota although very small was great, mostly quiet and a complete small mixture of naturists and non naturists - Formentera is definitely a clothing optional island. We had a quick recce over the other side but it looked a bit too sunbed-and-parasols-in-straight-lines and textile for us in the two or three places we looked at. Subsequently when we returned the hire car it had nearly 75% of the fuel left and no refund. A bit disappointed with the snorkelling but then we are Indian ocean spoilt and we did not get to the best spot recommended by Michel. We took our own gear but decided we would not bother next time - travel light, hand luggage only, bus and taxi. There are six restaurants easily walkable to three in the village and three on the main road - we tried four of them. If you Google Earth the place you get a really good idea of the layout of the area and you can street view the turnoffs to Gaviota. Without a doubt the best "rooms with a view" were the studios on the first floor - there are trees offering a good windbreak to the whole building that you can see over the top to the sea from the first floor. On most of the ground floor apartments I think you would only see glimpses of blue through the trees. Michel was a great asset to our stay - he was always available between 9.30 and 10.00 every morning - very helpful and a mine of information. He made life very easy and stressless. Free wifi is available but not in the rooms - well not ours anyway. All in all there were no unmet expectations - only one incident would make me suggest that you keep an eye on money transactions in local supermarkets - I am still not sure if it was accidental or deliberate but I was certainly 10 euros down on a deal which was a bit upsetting because we had used the same shop all week. To end on another definite positive - the only very small and non itchy insect bites we got were undoubtedly acquired at local restaurants not Gaviota - I think the local bats do a great job of keeping the mossies in check only one solitary mosquito ever ventured into our room and we soon saw it off! All in all Gaviota and Michel are to be reccommended.
